#CuthiesOpen - Open Evening Success

26 September 2016

Last night we opened our doors to prospective Y5 & Y6 students, their parents/carers and families to our Annual Open Evening from 5:30pm to 8:00pm.  Mrs Twist delivered her Headteacher address to a packed audience in the Drama Theatre at 6:00pm.

As our guests approached the entrance, they were greeted and entertained by our school band and received information to help make the most of the evening.  Our Student Guides were on hand to act as tour guides around the school and answered any questions.

Guests were given the opportunity to:

  • listen to an introductory talk by the headteacher Mrs Twist and other senior members of staff
  • Take part in our interactive "Question Time" hosted by our senior and current Y7 students in the Conference Room
  • explore the school and our excellent facilities including seven brand new classrooms
  • meet teaching staff, support staff and current students to discuss life at St. Cuthbert’s
  • gather information from all of the different subjects that we offer
  • take part in interactive activities, games and workshops with members of staff and St Cuthbert’s students
  • join up to our Alumni information point
  • Entered our fee prize draw competition for a chance to win a Mini iPad - the winner will be announced next week! Watch this space!

We received great comments and feedback from both parents/carers and prospective students; here's a sample of comments:

  • From parents/carers: Excellent friendly knowledgeable staff; fantastic, never seen my son so excited about school; it was very well-run - great evening!; well done team maths & science!; impressive speech by the Headteacher; students at the school were an absolute delight; excellent open evening-big thank you to our tour guides Rebecca and Rihanna; a really good night!
  • From prospective students: there were loads of enjoyable things to do and students and staff were friendly; the band outside was great and I could hear them in the classrooms; I changed the colour of fire and make slime in science; brilliant science experiments!; It's amazing!; the girls taking us round the school were really helpful; I had lots of fun and I loved seeing the art;
