Headteacher's Assembly 2016
21 July 2016
Today sees the end of another academic year at St Cuthbert's and we joined together to celebrate and remember the year that has gone.
We entered to the Brass Band playing a number of tunes to get us in the mood. Father Swanson then led us in an opening prayer. He was followed by Mr McCauley who formally introduced the rest of the school to our new senior team ( see photographs).
Miss Anderson then introduced the new Prefect system, and the students who had been successful in their applications to become prefects, were awarded their new ties' This was followed by Miss Smith who called out the top 20 ATL students, who were then entered into a draw to win the big prize; Year 7 student Chloe Maudsley won a brand new scooter.
Mrs Twist gave us a report and a reminder of what a year this has been, from the sadness of losing Jess Davies and the bravery of Matthew Lee battling his illness with such determination to the many triumphs and achievements of our students; the list of which is too long to detail in this report. We also said goodbye to two longstanding members of staff; Mrs Finnegan and Mr Talbot who are both retiring.
The brass Band and Mrs Gifford then gave a flawless performance of the 'Theme from Jungle Book' , after which Mrs Twist announced that the House Champions for Pentecost term were Sports Day winners Unity House! What a way to go out with a great double whammy!
