Miss Kenny

How long have you worked at St Cuthbert's?

Since 2014.

Can you share a favourite memory about St Cuthbert's?

My favourite memory is delivering my first ever Easter Celebration Mass in 2014. I picked the theme of Willy Wonka and decorated the drama theatre and used the lights to create an atmosphere. When the students entered there were many wows, oohs and ahhs. Failing that, it would be this year's results day, so lovely seeing happy face when the students were opening their envelopes. Also, staff retreat! There are so many, it's hard to choose!!

What made you go into teaching/working in a supporting role in school?

Non of my family are teachers yet, from a young age my mum always said I'd become a great teacher one day. Then, whilst I was at university I went working in an orphanage in Romania and I knew instantly I wanted to work with young people, as a career, simply because it's so rewarding.

What is the best bit of advice you can give to your students?

An apple a day keeps the doctor away?! You can go as far as you want in life, all you have to do is be yourself.

What do you enjoy most about working at St Cuthbert's?

Walking through it's doors in September 2014 was like one big hug. Staff and students are always pleasant, everyone says 'hi' to eachother when passing on the corridor. No one is ever too busy to pass the time of day and ask how you are.
