Act of Remembrance

06 November 2015

Sunday the 8th of November is Remembrance Sunday. The Queen will lay a wreath of poppies at the Cenotaph in London at 11am and thousands of people will gather to remember those who "gave their tomorrows, for our today", The soldiers from WW1 and every subsequent war since.

We will also be holding a ceremony in school on Wednesday the 11th of November to remember those who gave up their lives for us. More details on this from Mr Butterworth on Monday.

You will see that  British Legion poppies are on sale during form time next week. Please support this appeal as the funds raised are used to help ex-service men and women who have been injured in the line of duty, and also the families of those who have given up their lives. To wear the poppy is to show that you remember this great sacrifice.

Pictured above is the 'old school desk' created by Mr St-Pierre in remembrance of the soldiers who lost their lives in WW1 and were once students of Parr High School and then St Cuthbert's. This can be seen on display every day in the foyer at school. Each year Mr G Marvin (one of Parr Central Old Boys) contacts us to ask us to remember the fallen in our ceremony.

Come back later in the week for an update and photos of the ceremony.
