Rebecca Lawton Praised in National Poetry Competition

Rebecca Lawton of Year Seven was highly commended for her poem entry, ‘Summertime Poem’ in the NACE (National Association for Able Children) annual poetry competition this week.

A spokesman from the organisation said "We were astounded by the number of entries received and the quality of the writing." There were over 1,800 entries for the competition and the poems were judged by , Adele Geras OBE who had this to say:

"It's always a pleasure to read poems by children, especially if the work is of as high a standard as it has been for this competition. Every one of the entries I received was good, and some were outstanding."

Well done to Rebecca.
